If you are running cold email and using job hiring signals to find companies that fit your offer, this one is for you. I recently found a tool that scrapes job posts at serious volume, and the filtering is, bar none, the best I have found for building highly targeted cold email campaigns off hiring data. It is called TheirStack.
The most common approach is Apify. You use Apify scrapers to pull jobs from Indeed, from LinkedIn Jobs, and even from Monster. Honestly, it is a great option. Apify scrapers are cheap, they return a lot of data for the price, and for the most part the data is accurate.
The problem is not the volume or the accuracy. It is that the data is hard to filter properly, especially around time frames.
Say you are running outreach for a staffing and recruitment agency. One of the most effective strategies is to target companies with roles that have been open for a long time. The longer a role sits unfilled, the higher the pain, and the more likely that company actually needs a staffing agency. Time open is the signal.
Now try to build that list by scraping Indeed through Apify. You can filter to the past 24 hours, the past week, or 30 plus days. That is it. If you want to build a campaign specifically for roles that have been open for six to eight weeks, you cannot really get there. The signal you actually want is the one you cannot filter for.
That gap is the whole reason TheirStack is worth paying for.
TheirStack states that it scrapes over 355,000 sources globally and holds more than 234 million job postings, spanning over 195 countries and dating back to 2021.
The meaningful difference is in how it collects. Rather than relying on a front-end crawler, it extracts data directly from the job listings themselves. That process is slower, more manual, and more expensive to run, which is precisely why the results come back more accurate and better structured. That structure is what makes the advanced filtering possible.
The trade-off is honest enough: TheirStack costs more than an Apify scraper, Apollo, Clay, or Bitscale. You are paying for data quality and for filters that let you be far more specific than those platforms allow.
This is the part worth paying attention to, because the two plans are priced very differently. At the time of recording, the app plan was around $109 for 1,000 credits, while the API and webhooks plan was around $49 per month for 1,500 credits. Run the arithmetic and the API plan comes out several times cheaper per credit.
So my recommendation is straightforward: if you are going to use this tool, use the API and webhooks rather than the app. Check their current pricing before you commit, since these things move.
The app is still the nicer interface for exploring filters, which is why I use it to demonstrate. But for real campaign work, hook the API into whatever platform you already run. Clay, Bitscale, Claude Code, whatever it is. I currently run my campaigns out of Claude Code, so I set up the TheirStack MCP, which took me under two minutes and a couple of API keys. Now I just tell Claude Code the filters I want, including industry and company size, and it returns the data directly. Same result, a fraction of the cost.
You get the usual last 24 hours, last 7 days, last 30 days. But you also get the last 3 months, the last 12 months, even the last 2 years. Better still, you get a custom number of days and a custom date range. That means you can ask for job postings from 30 to 60 days ago, or set an explicit window such as 25 June through 25 July. This is the filter that unlocks the staffing play described above, and it is the one you cannot replicate on Indeed.
You can go city by city. In the demo I built a list around Atlanta, then added Macon and Alpharetta nearby, then added Charleston, South Carolina on top. You can stack multiple cities, states, and countries in a single search.
Because the database goes back to 2021, it contains a great many roles that have since been filled. If you are targeting companies with genuinely open roles, toggle job closed to no. Miss this and you will email companies about a position they filled two years ago. The archive is useful in its own right if you want to study a company's hiring history, but for live outreach, set this filter.
Employee count is a strong filter. In the demo I bracketed it between 200 and 1,000 to stay in SMB territory. You also get company headquarters country, company funding, industry, LinkedIn URL, whether the posting has a hiring manager attached, discover date, and annual salary.
This one is easy to overlook. When I searched for companies hiring registered nurses, a number of results were themselves staffing and recruiting firms. If you are selling to hospitals, those are noise. Add a company type filter and select direct employer to strip the recruiting agencies out.
In the demo, that final filter took the list from 115 results down to 56 clean ones: small to mid-size hospitals in the Atlanta area hiring registered nurses, 200 to 1,000 employees, roles posted in a specific one-month window, agencies excluded. That is a genuinely targeted list, and it took a few minutes.
Once the list looks right, the rest is a normal outbound workflow:
The targeting only pays off if the copy matches it. A tightly filtered list with generic copy wastes the whole exercise.
I still run normal generic job hiring campaigns by scraping Indeed and LinkedIn Jobs through Apify. Those give me volume and a big TAM. What TheirStack adds is a second, sharper campaign running alongside them, aimed at people with an obvious and specific pain: a role that has been open for one, two, or three months.
The volume on those campaigns will be lower. The intent is much stronger. As long as your copy is personalized and hits the pain point, the conversion rates justify the smaller list. This is the same logic behind running generic campaigns alongside intent signal campaigns: the broad play gives you scale, the sharp play gives you conversion.
